In 2024, the economic output of North Rhine-Westphalia reached approximately 880 billion euros, marking a nominal increase of 2.5% compared to the previous year. While manufacturing drove growth in Recklinghausen, the service sectors contributed to gains in Bochum and Duisburg. In contrast, the Mettmann district saw a decline of 5.0%. Despite the rise in nominal values, the state’s real GDP, adjusted for inflation, declined by 0.5% during the same period.
