Disputes have emerged regarding snow crab quota allocations in Norway. Mikal Solahug, owner of the vessel ‘Kildin’, has claimed that reporting on the matter omitted essential facts regarding his vessel’s history and documented catch prior to the 2022 fishery closure.

Solahug further asserts that requirements for reallocating licenses were altered after the application deadline. He contends that these changes, which removed requirements for documented activity, were driven by industry organizations and a law firm rather than the Ministry. 

Additionally, there has been criticism of Norwegian media coverage concerning the government’s handling of diplomatic contacts, specifically regarding a 2021 meeting between Noref and Hamas and the subsequent political response to the classification of Hamas as a terrorist organization.
