Sources: 4. Developments: 2. The Norwegian Labour Party (Arbeiderpartiet) has released preliminary nomination lists for the upcoming county council elections in Østfold and Finnmark. In Østfold, the party has proposed Sindre Martinsen-Evje as the candidate for county mayor, with Camilla Aas as the second candidate. This proposal is currently undergoing a hearing process, with a final decision anticipated in late November 2026. In Finnmark, the nomination committee has proposed Helga Pedersen for county mayor and Lavrans Lyngstad as the deputy candidate. The list is designed to provide geographic breadth across the county. Following the release of these names, Stig-Ronny Nilsen, leader of the Finnmark Progress Party (FrP), challenged the nomination of Pedersen. Nilsen questioned whether the region requires a shift toward a conservative project focused on local capital and business growth, rather than the established political direction represented by Pedersen’s extensive background as a former minister and Member of Parliament. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-17: Finnmark politics: Debate over Helga Pedersen's nomination Finnmark FrP leader Stig-Ronny Nilsen questions the Labor Party's nomination of experienced politician Helga Pedersen for the county council election, debating whether the region needs renewal or more of the de 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/finnmark-politics-debate-over-helga-pedersens-nomination ### 2026-09-11: Arbeiderpartiet releases county council nomination lists for Østfold and Finnmark The Norwegian Labour Party has released its first draft of county council election nomination lists for Østfold and Finnmark, including proposed candidates for county mayor. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/arbeiderpartiet-releases-county-council-nomination-lists-for-stfold-and-finnmark --- Cite as: Norwegian Labour Party county council nominations.
