Novastart has released its Infinite Canvas operating system, which replaces the traditional desktop with a single, expansive workspace. The system integrates applications, teammates, and AI agents onto a shared canvas that allows users to scroll, pan, and zoom between different tools.

A central feature of the OS is its management of AI agents. Rather than operating out of sight or taking full control of the interface, each agent is provided with its own dedicated cursor, mouse, and keyboard. This allows up to 10 AI agents to operate applications simultaneously without interfering with the user’s controls. Users can monitor agent actions in real time, pause processes, or correct them mid-run.

Novastart co-founder and CTO Thomas Fraher stated that the system allows for complex task delegation. In this workflow, a lead agent can distribute work among up to 10 assistant agents, with each working in separate windows or applications—for example, one agent researching in a browser while another organizes data in a spreadsheet—all occurring simultaneously. This approach is intended to function like a “team of digital colleagues” rather than a single assistant taking over the machine.

The platform supports over 30 web applications, including Chrome, Claude, ChatGPT, Gmail, Excel, and Notion. It is compatible with Windows 10 and 11, as well as Intel-based Macs. Additionally, the OS facilitates team collaboration by allowing users to join shared canvases via email, enabling multiple people to interact within the same windows from different computers.
