In late July 2026 the Portuguese Navy’s training ship NRP Sagres concluded a seven‑stop goodwill tour of the U.S. East Coast and Bermuda, drawing nearly 60 000 visitors, with the highest attendance in Baltimore, Boston and New Bedford. The ship’s U.S. itinerary followed a similar public‑open day for Brazil’s training vessel Brasil in Salvador.

In early August 2026 Sagres returned to Portuguese waters, offering open‑day tours on Terceira Island (Praia da Vitória) and later in Ponta Delgada. The visits were paired with cultural programmes, a play, and round‑table discussions.
