In late September, the government allocated funds to 156 projects, including $12.4 million for 38 initiatives on the North Coast. These projects include a flood-resilient creative hub in Lismore, a new grandstand in the Tweed, and community conservation efforts in Port Macquarie-Hastings. During this period, Wollongong City Council failed to qualify for $73 million in incentive funding due to development application assessment delays, whereas Shellharbour City Council met the necessary criteria. By late October, further allocations totaling $6.58 million were announced for 14 community-led projects in the Riverina, Murray, and Southern Tablelands regions. These grants target sporting infrastructure, such as the Goulburn Regional Hockey Centre, and cultural initiatives, including a multi-purpose community hub for the Onerwal Local Aboriginal Land Council in Yass. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-27: NSW Government allocates $6.58 million for regional community projects The NSW Government is investing $6.58 million into 14 projects across regional NSW to boost community connection, sporting infrastructure, and economic resilience. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/nsw-government-allocates-658-million-for-regional-community-projects ### 2026-09-29: NSW Government allocates regional funding while Wollongong misses incentives NSW Government funding initiatives are impacting regional NSW, with $12.4 million allocated to North Coast projects and Wollongong City Council missing $73 million in incentives due to assessment delays. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/nsw-government-allocates-regional-funding-while-wollongong-misses-incentives --- Cite as: NSW Government regional community funding.
