New South Wales Police conducted ‘Operation RAID’ (Remove All Impaired Drivers), a statewide traffic enforcement blitz targeting drivers impaired by alcohol, drugs, or fatigue. 

During the operation, which ran from September 3 to September 6, authorities conducted over 162,027 breath tests and more than 6,420 drug tests. These efforts resulted in 774 positive drug samples and 212 drink-driving offences, with more than 7,113 traffic infringement notices issued across the state.

Specific incidents reported during the crackdown included the arrest of a 40-year-old man in Charlestown for allegedly recording a blood-alcohol reading of 0.310 while supervising a learner driver, and the detention of a 19-year-old disqualified driver near Mumbil for alleged methamphetamine use.
