The WATSS technology utilizes pyrochemical processing to recover transuranic elements to create new fuel, a method designed to avoid the separation of pure plutonium by keeping it mixed with other radioactive elements. This process aims to repurpose spent nuclear fuel to produce up to 500 MW of electricity, potentially reducing long-term waste inventories. Nuclea Energy intends to maintain Moltex Energy Canada as a dedicated business for research, engineering, and regulatory development.
