The Nuevo Laredo City Council has approved a proposal to name the city’s new Museum of Science, Technology, and Planetarium after Dr. Annie Pardo Cemo. 

Dr. Pardo Cemo is a distinguished Mexican scientist and Emeritus Professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Her career includes over five decades of research and teaching, with a specialization in the cellular and molecular mechanisms of fibrosing lung diseases. She was a recipient of the 2022 National Science Prize.

Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal stated that the decision aims to connect the city’s educational and cultural infrastructure with a figure representing “knowledge and social transformation,” with the goal of inspiring younger generations through scientific progress.
