Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda has recently emphasized the importance of state autonomy and federalism in Nuevo León. During a university event, García described the state as a “laboratory of innovation,” arguing that constitutional autonomy has enabled independent policies in sectors such as health, security, and mobility, which have contributed to significant investment and job creation.

However, this stance on autonomy has coincided with rising political tensions between the executive branch and the state legislature. Deputy Lorena de la Garza has criticized the administration for its frequent use of executive vetoes, noting that the current government has issued 181 vetos in less than five years, a figure significantly higher than previous administrations. 

García has defended these actions, accusing political opponents of attempting to sabotage state progress and hinder development projects, such as metro expansions and infrastructure repairs.
