Lazio defender Nuno Tavares has experienced a tactical and psychological revitalization under manager Gennaro Gattuso. Following a period of uncertainty during the summer transfer window—marked by player dissatisfaction and interest from clubs such as Besiktas, Porto, and teams in Saudi Arabia—Tavares has regained his starting position.

Gattuso has transitioned the player from a focus on wing play to attacking central areas of the pitch. The manager has publicly praised Tavares’s talent, suggesting the Portuguese left-back possesses the pace and technical ability to play for top-tier clubs like Real Madrid, noting that “he knows he has talent and could’ve had 10 or 12 years at Real Madrid with his qualities.”
