Jagmohan Meena, a 2013-batch IPS officer, resigned from his position as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, citing personal reasons. His resignation, effective September 11, 2026, created an urgent vacancy for the state administration to fill ahead of the Durga Puja festive season and amid rising street crimes.

In response, the Odisha government implemented a reshuffle of four IPS officers. Dr. Saravana Vivek M, a 2015-batch officer and MBBS graduate, was appointed as the new Bhubaneswar DCP. The reshuffle also included the transfer of Abhinav Sonkar to SP Berhampur, the promotion of Mane Ajinkya Baburao to SP Dhenkanal, and the movement of A. B. Silpa to SDPO Bargarh.
