Sources: 12. Developments: 2. A 17-year-old girl who had been missing for 263 days was located on August 21 at the residence of Jobe Binkley, a 48-year-old former science teacher in Springfield, Ohio. The teenager had disappeared on December 2, 2025, after leaving a crisis shelter in Columbus. Authorities, including a U.S. Marshals special task force, allege that Binkley knowingly harbored the juvenile. Court records indicate that Binkley had previously denied police entry to his home on two occasions, claiming the teenager was not present. During the successful search, Binkley reportedly confirmed the teenager was inside and called for her to come out. Binkley has been charged with one count of interference with custody, a first-degree misdemeanor, to which he has pleaded not guilty. He was released on bond, and a pre-trial hearing is scheduled for September 30. While Binkley was previously fired from the Springfield City School District for violating technology policies, prosecutors noted that additional charges may depend on forensic examinations of mobile devices and the cooperation of the teenager. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-15: Ohio former teacher charged after missing teen found at his home Former Ohio teacher Jobe Binkley faces interference with custody charges after a missing teenager was found alive at his home 263 days after she disappeared from a Columbus youth shelter. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ohio-former-teacher-charged-after-missing-teen-found-at-his-home ### 2026-09-13: Ohio teenager found after 263 days at former teacher's home A missing 17-year-old Ohio teenager was found after 263 days at the home of former teacher Jobe Binkley, who has been arrested for interference with custody. 9 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ohio-teenager-found-after-263-days-at-former-teachers-home --- Cite as: Ohio former teacher charged in missing teenager case.
