Fatai Okoya, identifying as the first child of billionaire industrialist Razaq Akanni Okoya, issued a public appeal for reconciliation following a 40-year estrangement. In an open letter, Fatai expressed a desire to rebuild their relationship, stating, “Dad, we cannot turn back the hands of time, but we can choose to make the years ahead different.”

The Okoya family subsequently issued a statement disputing Fatai’s claims. Represented by Eleganza Industries Ltd, the family clarified that Fatai is the third child of Razaq Okoya rather than the first. They denied allegations that Shade Okoya had prevented Fatai from seeing his father during his 86th birthday, asserting instead that the estrangement predated her marriage to the industrialist. 

The family further claimed that Fatai has received significant financial assistance from the industrialist, including medical support and property in Lagos, and expressed regret that these private matters were made public.
