The No. 8 Ole Miss Rebels defeated No. 7 LSU Tigers 32-24 in a high-stakes SEC homecoming matchup at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss led the offense with 363 passing yards and three total touchdowns, including a decisive 14-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. Following the win, Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding earned National Coach of the Week honors, specifically being named the Bear Bryant Awards National Coach of the Week.

LSU, led by head coach Lane Kiffin, erased a 17-point halftime deficit to tie the game in the fourth quarter, but a late interception by Jaylon Braxton helped secure the win for Ole Miss. This matchup marked Kiffin’s first return to Oxford since departing Ole Miss for the LSU position.

The victory moved Ole Miss into the top 4 of the national rankings, while LSU dropped to No. 10. The game was played before a record crowd of 70,033 fans, contributing to a weekend that saw over 300,000 visitors in the area. Ole Miss reported nearly $1 million in alcohol sales, the highest in program history. City officials described the weekend as a public safety success.

Injuries impacted both rosters. For LSU, defensive back Dashawn Spears and wide receiver Phillip Wright III have been ruled out for the remainder of the season, and tight end Trey’Dez Green will miss several games. For Ole Miss, running back Kewan Lacy remains uncertain for the upcoming game against the Florida Gators due to a shoulder injury.
