In October 2026, Olimpia Milano management reportedly maintained confidence in head coach Pepe Poeta despite a 1-3 start to the EuroLeague season. Although rumors suggested potential replacements such as Janis Sferopulos, the club indicated no intention to replace Poeta based on his previous domestic successes.

By November 2026, the club officially announced the dismissal of Poeta following a difficult start to the EuroLeague season. The decision followed a period of poor performance in which the team recorded nine losses in its first ten matches, leaving them at the bottom of the standings. In a statement, the club thanked Poeta for his dedication and enthusiasm, noting his contributions as both an assistant and head coach, including securing a Scudetto, an Italian Cup, and a Super Cup. Marco Ramondino was appointed as the interim coach to lead the team.
