Reports initially suggested that OnePlus might skip the Indian launch of its flagship OnePlus 16, potentially opting to introduce the OnePlus 16R as its primary high-end offering in the region instead. This was linked to a broader strategic shift toward the Chinese and Indian markets following the brand’s withdrawal from European and North American markets. OnePlus has since expanded its high-end presence in India with the launch of a premium OnePlus 13s variant. This model, priced at Rs 68,999, features 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It includes a 6.32-inch 1.5K LTPO ProXDR AMOLED display and a 5,850mAh battery with 80W SuperVOOC fast charging. The device is available in Black Velvet and Green Silk via Amazon India and the official OnePlus online store, with potential bank discounts available through several major providers. Looking ahead, the brand is preparing for the Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale 2026, featuring deals on models like the OnePlus Nord CE6 Lite. Furthermore, reports indicate the OnePlus 16R may launch in India around November or December 2026. Expected to be a rebranded version of the OnePlus Ace 7 series, the 16R is rumored to be priced between ₹70,000 and ₹75,000 and could feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a 9,000mAh battery, and a 200MP primary camera. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-07: OnePlus announces sale deals and upcoming smartphone launches in India OnePlus offers discounts on the Nord CE6 Lite during Amazon's upcoming sale in India and is rumored to launch the high-end OnePlus 16R later this year. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/oneplus-announces-sale-deals-and-upcoming-smartphone-launches-in-india ### 2026-09-19: OnePlus launches 16GB RAM OnePlus 13s variant in India OnePlus has introduced a premium 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant of the OnePlus 13s in India, priced at Rs 68,999. 7 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/oneplus-launches-16gb-ram-oneplus-13s-variant-in-india ### 2026-09-13: OnePlus may skip India launch of flagship OnePlus 16 OnePlus may skip the India launch of its flagship OnePlus 16, instead offering the OnePlus 16R as its top-tier model to focus on regional market strategies. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/oneplus-may-skip-india-launch-of-flagship-oneplus-16 --- Cite as: OnePlus smartphone market strategy in India.
