The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continued its Canada Day Week traffic‑safety campaign through July and early August 2026, expanding both the number of charges and the range of offences addressed. Notable incidents included an impaired‑driving and child‑restraint charge on Highway 11 (July 8), a fatal multi‑motorcycle crash (July 11), and a series of speeding, uninsured‑vehicle and assault‑related offences across the province.

In Prince Edward County, the RIDE program and other investigations led to nine impaired‑driving charges throughout July. These included arrests of Christopher Sampson, David Tobin, Bradley Chapman, and Alla Adler, as well as an unidentified driver who nearly collided with a police cruiser on July 18.

During the Civic Holiday long weekend, the OPP recorded its deadliest weekend of the year with eight fatalities. Officers laid more than 8,200 traffic and marine‑safety charges province‑wide, including nearly 4,000 speeding tickets and 188 impaired‑driving offences. Specific enforcement included 42 marine and off‑road vehicle charges by the SAVE unit, six impaired‑driving arrests in Dufferin County, and the shutdown of three illegal cannabis dispensaries in London. Other notable incidents involved Bhupinder Gharial, who was charged following a Highway 410 collision, and Albert Blais and Kevin Guise, who faced various charges following stops in Bonfield and near Iron Bridge.

In early August, the Huntsville detachment charged three individuals with impaired operation: Madelyn Smith on August 3, Victoria Degroot on August 7, and Jennifer Botting on August 8. All three are scheduled to appear in Bracebridge in September.
