Fintech company OPay has implemented several initiatives in Nigeria focused on education, consumer trust, and financial habits.

In late July 2026, the company selected 48 university teams for its National Innovation Challenge. This program, part of the OPay Scholars Programme, provides mentorship from OPay staff, Google experts, and the Federal Government to help students develop technology-driven solutions.

By early August, OPay launched the ‘OPay Is Okay’ campaign. According to company executives Dotun Adekunle and Elizabeth Wang, the initiative was designed to address concerns regarding fraud, scams, and misinformation to strengthen trust within the digital finance ecosystem.

Following this, OPay introduced the ‘OPay 7 Savings Festival’ on August 10. This 49-day campaign utilizes the OWealth digital savings solution to encourage consistent saving habits. The program offers high interest rates and a share of a ₦77 million interest pool to customers who complete specific Target Savings plans without early withdrawals.
