OpenShot Studios released OpenShot 4.0, a major update to its open-source video editing software that migrated the platform from Qt5 to Qt6. This version introduced local AI capabilities for object masking and detection, professional color grading tools, and a dedicated Recording View for capturing screen and audio content.

Following the initial release, version 4.0.1 was issued as a maintenance update to address regressions caused by the Qt6 migration. This update focused on fixing preview glitches, recording issues, and startup failures on macOS, while also adding enhancements such as an upgraded razor tool and improved Linux support via official Snap integration.
