King Charles Douglas MacPepple Jaja, known as Jeki VI, has been crowned as the sixth Amanyanabo of the Opobo Kingdom in Rivers State. The coronation ceremony, held at King Jaja Square, was attended by various traditional rulers and former President Goodluck Jonathan, who urged the new monarch to promote peace and unity.

Following the coronation, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara formally presented the new monarch with the Certificate of Recognition and Staff of Office at Government House in Port Harcourt. The Governor noted that the transition follows a period of instability, stating that the stool of the late King Dandeson Douglas Jaja had been subject to legal disputes lasting over 27 years. The administration intervened to manage the selection process and prevent further litigation.
