The Oradea tram-train project, managed by the Bihor County Council, has reached a procurement milestone with Swiss manufacturer Stadler submitting the sole bid for a major tender. 

The project, valued at approximately 462 million lei (90.5 million euros), involves the provision of 14 electric tram-trains along with maintenance and repair services. This initiative aims to connect the municipality of Oradea with its metropolitan area via electric traction. 

Development of the project has previously included feasibility studies, a protocol with the National Railway Company (CFR SA), and a funding request submitted in December 2024.
