Berlin has experienced a series of violent incidents involving shootings that authorities suspect are linked to organized crime or clan-related violence. In early September, a 53-year-old man was seriously injured in an attempted murder in the Tempelhof district after being shot through his vehicle's windshield. This followed a pattern of attacks on individuals and businesses that led to the establishment of the special unit ‘Ferrum’ in late 2025.

Violence escalated in late September with a shooting in Moabit, where a 22-year-old man was shot from a moving vehicle near a police station. This incident occurred following a stabbing in the Wedding district and a subsequent physical attack on officers. The police union has characterized the shooting near the station as a ‘worrying development’ reflecting an escalation in local gun violence.
