Sources: 5. Developments: 2. The Athens Urban Transport Organization (OSY) has faced administrative challenges and is implementing new safety and staffing initiatives. In early September 2026, OSY faced scrutiny regarding the management of its ‘Safe Bus’ telematics application. Following a notification that the pilot project had ended, drivers deactivated their accounts, only for OSY to later claim the termination notice was sent ‘by mistake’. While the application is being extended, questions have been raised regarding the terms of a reported free extension following two previous contracts with the developer OSeven totaling 70,680 euros. By late September 2026, OSY announced further operational updates, including a recruitment drive for bus drivers under eight-month fixed-term contracts. Additionally, the organization signed a contract exceeding €627,200 with WINGS ICT Solutions S.A. to install 250 digital cameras across its fleet. This project, supported by VECTOR TECHNOLOGIES EPE, is designed to detect traffic violations and analyze road conditions in the Athens Basin over the next six months. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-28: OSY announces driver recruitment and new bus safety camera project OSY is launching a recruitment drive for bus drivers in October 2026 and has contracted WINGS ICT Solutions to install 250 safety cameras across its fleet in Athens. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/osy-announces-driver-recruitment-and-new-bus-safety-camera-project ### 2026-09-07: OSY faces scrutiny over Safe Bus application management OSY is facing questions after abruptly notifying drivers that the Safe Bus telematics pilot had ended, only to reverse the decision days later, citing a contract error. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/osy-faces-scrutiny-over-safe-bus-application-management --- Cite as: OSY operational and safety management updates.
