Paju City has announced two distinct environmental and urban development initiatives. 

First, the city is launching a 16.8 billion won wastewater reuse project to combat algae growth in Unjeong Lake Park and Sori Stream. The plan involves redirecting treated water from the Unjeong Sewage Treatment Plant through a new circulation system and pipeline network. Administrative procedures are set to begin in September 2026, with construction planned for 2028 and completion expected by 2030.

Second, the city is initiating a basic plan for the ‘Paju Imjin River Peace Garden’. This 600 million won consultancy project will run for 16 months to establish a 300,000 square meter garden designed to boost tourism and the local economy. To ensure ecological preservation, the city will exclude national river areas and wetlands from potential sites, aiming to finalize site designation by December 2027.
