Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has initiated a strategy to modernize its fleet and expand its international network. The airline announced new and resumed services, including a route connecting Islamabad to Birmingham, United Kingdom, scheduled for December 2026.

To support these operations, PIA acquired its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, leased from Norse Atlantic Airways, marking the first time such an aircraft type has been operated by a Pakistani airline.

The airline has also resumed direct weekly flights between Islamabad and Beijing. To improve connectivity within China, PIA established partnerships with Air China, Shenzhen Airlines, and Hainan Airlines, using Beijing as a hub to facilitate access to 26 different destinations.
