Pakistan’s trade performance has shown mixed results across different sectors and fiscal periods. During fiscal year 2025-26, total exports declined by approximately $1.2 billion, falling to $30.8 billion, largely due to a $1.02 billion drop in rice exports and reduced performance in textiles and agricultural products. Regional instability in the Middle East was cited as a factor in a $100 million decline in exports to Gulf countries.

In the first two months of fiscal year 2026–27, however, Pakistan recorded a trade surplus of about $480 million with the United States. Exports to the US rose by 10.46% year-on-year to $1.17 billion, driven by textiles, garments, leather, and surgical instruments. Additionally, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) exports grew by 17.37% to $811 million, becoming the country’s largest services export category.

Import trends have also fluctuated. Mobile phone imports decreased by 8.85% during the first two months of the 2026-27 fiscal year, while imports of telecom equipment rose by 8.95% as network infrastructure investment continued.
