Dutch company PAL-V has obtained Production Organisation Approval (POA) from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for its Liberty flying car. This certification enables the company to manufacture aviation products on an industrial scale under European regulations.

The Liberty is a three-wheeled hybrid vehicle designed to function as both a road car and a compact gyrocopter. In road mode, it can reach speeds of 160 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under nine seconds. In flight mode, the vehicle achieves speeds of approximately 180 km/h with an operational range of 400 to 500 km and a maximum flight autonomy of approximately 4.3 hours. While it is road-legal, it requires a runway for takeoff and landing rather than vertical takeoff capabilities.

With approximately 250 units already ordered—roughly half of which are for emergency services such as fire departments—PAL-V aims to deliver its first fully certified units by 2028. The company still requires a separate type certificate to meet all safety and technical standards for flight, a process expected to take about 1.5 years.
