The Malaysian Ministry of Works has allocated RM119 million to upgrade the Redline sections of the Pan Borneo Sarawak Highway (Short Stretch). The project involves upgrading road pavement structures across 17.1 kilometers at nine locations, including Lachau, Selangau, Balingian, Kemena, Sebiew, and Tudan.

Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi stated the project aims to bring these sections up to the same standard as completed portions of the highway to ensure safety and comfort. The contractor, DAL-HCM Sdn. Bhd., took possession of the site on September 17. While the works are expected to take 16 months with a target completion date in early 2028, officials have expressed aims for an earlier finish.

These upgrades are part of broader infrastructure efforts in Sarawak intended to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth.
