Panama has engaged in bilateral discussions with Japan and Germany to strengthen diplomatic, economic, and security ties. 

In discussions with Japan, officials focused on promoting Japanese investment, improving connectivity through potential direct flights, and addressing the solid waste crisis at the Cerro Patacón landfill through sustainable technology. 

Meetings with Germany centered on protecting international maritime trade routes, preserving the neutrality and sovereignty of the Panama Canal, and cooperating to combat organized crime and drug trafficking. Germany also expressed interest in participating in Panamanian infrastructure projects, such as railways and logistics enhancements for the Canal.

Both Japan and Germany have provided humanitarian aid to assist those affected by a recent earthquake in Panama.
