Panasonic has expanded its LUMIX ecosystem through new hardware and software releases. In September, the company introduced the LUMIX S 20mm F2.5, a compact ultra-wide-angle prime lens for full-frame L-Mount cameras, alongside a suite of firmware and mobile app updates.

Following these announcements, Panasonic released firmware version 2.1 for the LUMIX S9. This update enhances video capabilities by allowing recording in 4K 60p/50p and various Full HD frame rates using the MP4 (Lite) format, which is optimized for smartphone transfers. The update also increases the functionality of the lens Fn button for controlling features like aspect ratio and electronic stabilization. Additionally, firmware updates for the S1RII and S1II series were implemented to improve shutter responsiveness and operational stability, supported by updates to the LUMIX Lab and LUMIX Flow mobile applications.
