To mark the 20th anniversary of Guillermo del Toro’s fantasy film, ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’, a new re-release trailer has been issued. The trailer highlights the film’s imagery and musical score, though some critiques have noted a reliance on traditional montage techniques and a lack of dialogue.

As part of the anniversary, Insight Editions is releasing two special books: ‘Pan’s Labyrinth: The Complete Screenplay’ and a 20th-anniversary edition of ‘Inside the Creation of a Modern Fairy Tale’. The latter, developed with del Toro, includes rare concept art and interviews; a limited edition of 500 copies will be available, with the first 100 signed by the director. Del Toro has also shared that visual elements like the Pale Man’s lair were designed to evoke a sense of “voracity.”

The technical restoration, supervised by del Toro, utilizes the original 35mm negative and avoids artificial intelligence. It features 4K 2D and frame-by-frame 3D versions. The theatrical rollout includes over 300 Cinépolis theaters in Mexico starting October 15, 2026, and the United States on October 9, 2026. In Poland, Kino Świat will distribute a 4K version starting October 25. The United Kingdom and Ireland will see screenings from October 30, and a limited 4K UHD Steelbook is expected in Germany around November 19, 2026.

Following the Mexican re-release, Guillermo del Toro publicly supported customers reporting service issues at Cinépolis. Grievances included a lack of 3D glasses, failure to provide commemorative postcards, and unexpected charges for accessories. Del Toro requested further explanations from the company’s general director to ensure complaints were handled.
