In late September, the club secured a 3-1 away victory against Panetolikos in the Stoiximan Super League, a match that marked the 100th league appearance for defender Giannis Michailidis. Following this match, the squad faced temporary depletion due to several players being called up for international duties. In October, the club transitioned toward academic and historical reflection with the commencement of the ‘100 Years of PAOK: Football and Society’ international scientific conference at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The three-day event involves over 60 academics examining the club’s history through various social sciences. The conference has now concluded, having brought together academics, researchers, and sports professionals to examine the intersection of football with social, political, economic, and technological shifts. Key discussions explored the club’s historical roots as a refugee institution and the impact of digital transformation, including the use of Big Data and football analytics. Final sessions addressed the sociological aspects of fan culture—ranging from local neighborhood connections to digital social media communities—as well as the relationship between athletes and society, the club’s presence in art and culture, and the evolution of the sport in a digital age. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-09: PAOK FC hosts centenary conference on football and society The ‘100 Years of PAOK: Football and Society’ conference at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki explores the club’s century-long impact on culture, identity, and digital sports analytics. 7 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/paok-fc-hosts-international-conference-marking-100-years ### 2026-09-21: PAOK FC defeats Panetolikos as Michailidis hits 100 league appearances PAOK FC defeated Panetolikos 3-1, a match that marked Giannis Michailidis's 100th league appearance.
