In late July 2026, the Czech city of Pardubice approved a ten-year Sport Development Strategy (2026–2035). Developed by a 25-member working group, the plan establishes five priority areas and ten strategic goals to modernize venues—such as the Dukla sport centre and Zlatá přilba arena—and create new public spaces in city forests and riverbanks. Officials noted the strategy aims to counter declining sport participation among youth aged 14–19.

The plan moved quickly to implementation. On 6 August, the tenth edition of Sportovní park Pardubice opened, featuring over 60 clubs and activities including zumba, gymnastics, and a 12-km cycling route. Despite temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, the festival drew over 100,000 visitors to Na Špici park and Automatické mlýny, with appearances by Olympic judo champion Lukáš Krpálek. During the same period, the city’s racecourse moved its main qualifying horse-racing event to an earlier start time to improve safety.

Building on this momentum, the city announced free, year-round access to 19 sports venues—including multifunctional fields, athletics tracks, tennis, and beach-volleyball courts—available at least six hours daily from 9 a.m. QR-coded signage provides opening times and equipment-rental information.

Parallel to the sports push, Pardubice continued its “Startovací bydlení” affordable-housing programme, adding 13 new apartments (totaling 25 per year) for residents up to 30 years old. Rents are set at 80 CZK/m² for the first three years, rising to 100 CZK thereafter, with a public lottery scheduled for 7 October and tenancy beginning 1 January 2027.
