In Mytilene, the local association noted that current legislation requires these elections to occur every two years during the period from September 1 to December 31 of even-numbered years. This unified cycle is intended to ensure legal representation within boards, unions, and federations. Associations that held elections in 2025 are advised to hold new elections in 2026 to align with the biennial cycle. Similarly, the Union of Parents and Guardians Associations of West Lesvos cited Greek Law 1566/1985 and Law 4415/2016 as the basis for the biennial requirement. The Union has urged mass participation and emphasized the need for associations to organize General Assemblies, appoint three-member electoral committees, and utilize secret ballots to ensure compliance with legal statutes and maintain uniform terms across the municipality. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-28: West Lesvos calls for parent association elections by year-end The Union of Parents and Guardians Associations in West Lesvos has called for all local associations to hold elections for new boards by December 31, 2026, in accordance with Greek law. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/west-lesvos-calls-for-parent-association-elections-by-year-end ### 2026-09-20: Mytilene Parents and Guardians Associations must hold elections by late 2026 Parents and Guardians Associations in Mytilene must hold elections by December 31, 2026, to comply with biennial legislative requirements and ensure proper representation. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/mytilene-parents-and-guardians-associations-must-hold-elections-by-late-2026 --- Cite as: Parent association elections in Lesvos municipalities.
