The PDC World Grand Prix took place at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester from September 28 to October 4, featuring a 32-player field and a unique ‘double-in, double-out’ format. The tournament saw significant early upsets during the opening rounds. Defending champion and world number one Luke Littler was eliminated after losing 2-1 to Luke Woodhouse. Six-time champion Michael van Gerwen also exited in the first round, falling 2-1 to Ryan Joyce. This loss marks the third consecutive year the 37-year-old Dutchman has failed to progress past the first round of this tournament.
