The aircraft entered runway 18 and moved toward runway 36, reaching a ground speed of approximately 31 to 35 knots before air traffic controllers from Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) intervened. DFS described the event as “really extraordinary,” noting that such occurrences are rare in Germany. While the airline acknowledged pilot error, Pegasus Airlines disputed reports suggesting a takeoff attempt was made, stating the crew identified the error and coordinated with the tower to exit the runway. The aircraft successfully departed for Istanbul approximately seven minutes after the incident. The Federal Bureau for Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU) has been notified to evaluate the report and determine if a formal investigation is required. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-25: Pegasus Airlines aircraft enters Frankfurt runway in wrong direction A Pegasus Airlines Airbus A321 entered a Frankfurt Airport runway in the wrong direction before air traffic controllers intervened and aborted the takeoff at 65 km/h. 9 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/pegasus-airlines-aircraft-enters-frankfurt-runway-in-wrong-direction ### 2026-10-23: Pegasus Airlines aircraft enters runway in wrong direction at Frankfurt Airport A Pegasus Airlines flight from Frankfurt to Istanbul entered a runway in the wrong direction on Tuesday.
