Penetrium Bioscience is developing a therapeutic agent, Penetrium, designed to target the tumor microenvironment (TME) to overcome treatment resistance in various cancers.

Initial research presented at the 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer focused on a ‘resensitization’ strategy. By modulating cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAF), the research demonstrated that Penetrium could restore the effectiveness of drugs like gefitinib in lung cancer organoids and gemcitabine in pancreatic cancer organoids.

Subsequent updates from the PENETRIUM Global Clinical Development Symposium in Seoul identified ‘pseudo-resistance’—where the TME acts as a physical barrier—as a key challenge. The company demonstrated that adding Penetrium to existing treatments, such as daraxonrasib, significantly reduced residual resistance in lung and ovarian cancer organoid studies. Penetrium Bioscience is currently pursuing an ‘add-on’ strategy and is conducting clinical trials for prostate cancer, while preparing for FDA Phase 2 trials in the United States and regulatory procedures in Australia and other global markets.

## Timeline

### 2026-09-14: Penetrium Bioscience targets ‘pseudo-resistance’ to enhance cancer treatment efficacy

Penetrium Bioscience aims to overcome cancer treatment limits by targeting ‘pseudo-resistance’ in the tumor microenvironment through an add-on therapy strategy currently moving toward global clinical trials.
