German rock musician Peter Maffay has begun transitioning away from large-scale touring to prioritize his family life. Maffay expressed regret regarding time lost with his son, Yaris, during his previous extensive touring schedules, stating, ‘We missed each other a bit in our lives. My fault. Now we are making up for it.’

His son has recently joined him on stage during his farewell tour. Maffay resides with his wife, Hendrikje Balsmeyer, and their daughter, Anouk.

On the eleventh anniversary of their first meeting, Balsmeyer shared a tribute to Maffay, noting that while their relationship has faced challenges, they have “fallen” at times but always “gotten back up and kept walking hand in hand.” The couple met in October 2015 and married privately in April 2022.
