Classic rock bands have experienced significant personnel changes over time, with many groups undergoing shifts due to deaths or defections. While some bands like U2 have maintained consistent membership, others such as Little River Band and Blackfoot have seen continuous changes or no current members remaining from their founding eras.

Within the progressive rock genre specifically, many active bands continue to perform despite the loss of most founding members. While some groups have no original members left, at least 11 prominent progressive rock bands remain active with a single original member still in the lineup.
