The Perth Wildcats and New Zealand Breakers have faced multiple matchups in the NBL. In late September, the Wildcats secured a 97-93 victory over the Breakers at RAC Arena, overcoming an 11-point second-quarter deficit and an injury to Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. During that period, the Wildcats were managing roster adjustments due to the absence of a natural point guard.

By October, the Wildcats extended their winning streak to four games with a 100-84 win against the Breakers. While Dylan Windler led Perth with 32 points, the Breakers struggled due to the absence of playmaker Parker Jackson-Cartwright, who was sidelined for several weeks with a lower-leg injury. Coach Gordon Herbert compared the loss of his primary ball-handlers to “being out in a rowboat without an oar.” This later match also marked the NBL debut of Brandon Knight for Perth.
