This result increased pressure on Leicester manager Russell Martin following the home side’s third defeat in the competition. Following this second consecutive win, Peterborough United prepared to host Burton Albion at Weston Homes Stadium. Despite the recent success, Peterborough has struggled with consistency throughout the 2026-27 season, sitting just above the relegation zone due to defensive difficulties. The team has lost five of its opening nine league matches and has conceded fourteen goals in that period, though it has shown strength in cup competitions, progressing in the EFL Cup and EFL Trophy. Burton Albion entered the fixture following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers.
