The Philadelphia Flyers’ early season struggles reached a franchise-record low following a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes. This loss marks the seventh consecutive game lost to open the season, leaving the Flyers with a 0-5-2 record.

In the recent matchup, Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov each recorded a goal and an assist, while Shayne Gostisbehere and Mark Jankowski also contributed goals for Carolina. Christian Dvorak provided the lone goal for Philadelphia. The Hurricanes’ victory extended their own winning streak to five games.

The team continues to grapple with injuries to key players, including defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen, who was sidelined after taking a puck to his left hand. Beyond on-ice performance and a significant deficit in goal differential, the team is facing mounting external pressure, with some fans calling for the departure of head coach Rick Tocchet.
