Following criticisms of Devin Booker’s defensive and playmaking abilities, Phoenix Suns teammate Collin Gillespie defended the star, calling recent negative assessments a ‘bad take’. Coach Jordan Ott has also supported Booker, citing his commitment to team play and statistical increases in potential assists.

As the 2026-27 NBA season approaches, ESPN’s top-100 player rankings placed Booker at No. 20. The Suns’ roster has since evolved with the addition of scorers Jalen Green and Miles Bridges, while Dillon Brooks returned to the top-100 list. Gillespie remains a noted source of optimism for the team’s offensive spacing.
