Pierluigi Gollini has recently transitioned into a starting role for AS Roma following an injury to first-choice goalkeeper Mile Svilar, who is expected to be sidelined for at least one month due to a fractured toe.

Gollini’s increased playing time included a start against Real Madrid and a match against his former club, Napoli. During the Napoli-Roma fixture, Gollini was involved in a controversial incident where he touched the ball with his arm outside the penalty area. While the referee allowed play to continue, officiating experts noted the decision was correct because his arm did not ‘unnaturally increase his volume’ according to IFAB Rule 12.
