A private Piper PA-34 aircraft crashed in the waters near Andros Island in the Bahamas while traveling from Great Harbour Cay to Miami Executive Airport. Flight tracking data showed the plane’s altitude dropped sharply from 10,000 feet to 3,700 feet in three minutes before contact was lost.

Four members of a Miami-based family were killed in the accident: pilot Mario Lamar, 80, his wife Lili Lamar, 79, and their grandchildren Sofia Sosa, 28, and Christian Sosa, 22. Following search operations involving the U.S. Coast Guard, Bahamian authorities, and family members, the victims' bodies were recovered from the sea.
