The city of Piranguinho in Minas Gerais, Brazil, has officially been designated as the National Capital of Pé de Moleque. 

The process began when the Senate Education and Culture Commission approved bill PL 2.362/2022, which was presented by former federal deputy Bilac Pinto. Following a favorable opinion from Senator Professora Dorinha Seabra, the proposal moved toward presidential sanction. 

The designation was finalized through Law 15.515, which was sanctioned without vetoes and published in the Official Gazette of the Union. This recognition honors a tradition of artisanal peanut candy production in the region that dates back to 1911 and has been recognized as Minas Gerais cultural heritage since 2009. The local industry remains a significant economic driver, supported by events such as the annual ‘Festa do Maior Pé de Moleque do Mundo’.
