British rock band Placebo has commenced its 30th-anniversary tour, which began in Porto, Portugal. The tour focuses on material from the band’s first two albums, featuring songs that have not been performed live for over twenty years.

To coincide with the anniversary, the band released a new single titled ‘Helen Keller’. The track is a heavier rock reimagining of ‘H. K. Farewell’, an instrumental piano melody originally recorded during the sessions for their 1996 self-titled debut album. The single was recorded in London and produced by Placebo alongside Adam Noble.

As the tour progressed, the band performed a sold-out concert at the Rockhal in Luxembourg, drawing a multi-generational audience. Lead singer Brian Molko performed for a crowd expressing nostalgic connections to the band’s discography.

Recent tour dates included a performance at Oslo Spektrum in Norway, where Molko encouraged a “mobile-free, intimate atmosphere” during a set featuring hits such as ‘Pure Morning’ and ‘Come Home’. In Denmark, the band played a sold-out show at KB Hallen in Frederiksberg. The performance included sixteen songs from their early discography, though some tracks, such as the title song from ‘Without You I’m Nothing’, were noted for being played with “unexpected haste”.
