Private developers initiated procedures to change land use designations near the Plovdiv University ‘Paisii Hilendarski’ campus. These plans involve converting former agricultural land into residential and public zones. One proposal includes the potential construction of over 200 apartments on two plots, while investment intentions from HMC AD involve a larger area designated for residential buildings, sports facilities, and landscaping, which could yield more than 800 apartments. Concurrently, the Plovdiv Municipality proposed an investment of over €191,000 to upgrade four local schools. This municipal funding includes the construction of a modular dining hall at Vasil Petleshkov Primary School, the renovation of sports courts at Peyo Yavorov Secondary School, and design projects for new facilities at Rayna Knyaginya Primary School and Stoyan Mihaylovski Primary School. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-27: Plovdiv Municipality proposes €191,000 for four school upgrades Plovdiv Municipality proposes a €191,062 investment for four schools to fund new dining facilities, sports courts, and architectural designs for future expansions. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/plovdiv-municipality-proposes-191000-for-four-school-upgrades ### 2026-10-21: Plovdiv University campus faces large-scale residential development Large-scale residential and sports developments are proposed near Plovdiv University dormitories, potentially adding over 800 apartments and significant infrastructure to the area. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/plovdiv-university-campus-faces-large-scale-residential-development --- Cite as: Plovdiv urban and educational infrastructure developments.
