Developments: 3. The Požega Diocese has begun preparations for its upcoming 30th anniversary in 2027. A committee has been established to coordinate various programs, including a planned Fourth Eucharistic Congress, under the motto ‘Stay with us, Lord’. In September 2026, the diocese marked its 29th anniversary and the feast of St. Teresa of Avila, the patron saint of the Cathedral. During Diocesan Day celebrations, Bishop Ivo Martinović ordained Luka Barišić and Krunoslav Crkvenac to the diaconate. In his address, the Bishop noted that the role of a deacon is defined by being a servant rather than seeking social influence or career advancement. Reflections during the anniversary focused on the Eucharist and the unity of the Church. The celebrations also included the opening of the 31st Organ Evenings, a musical series connecting artistic creativity with spiritual life, which commenced with a performance by organist Ivo Mrvelj featuring works ranging from the Baroque period to the 20th century. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-28: Požega Diocese celebrates 29th anniversary and Cathedral feast The Požega Diocese celebrated its 29th anniversary and the feast of St. Teresa of Avila with religious services and the opening of the 31st Organ Evenings at the Cathedral in Požega. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/poega-diocese-celebrates-29th-anniversary-and-cathedral-feast ### 2026-09-27: Požega Diocese celebrates 29th anniversary and ordains new deacons The Požega Diocese celebrated its 29th anniversary with a Diocesan Day featuring the ordination of two new deacons by Bishop Ivo Martinović. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/poega-diocese-celebrates-29th-anniversary-and-ordains-new-deacons ### 2026-09-21: Požega Diocese establishes committee for 30th anniversary celebrations The Požega Diocese has established a committee to organize the 30th-anniversary celebrations for 2027, featuring the Fourth Eucharistic Congress and the motto ‘Stay with us, Lord’. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/poega-diocese-establishes-committee-for-30th-anniversary-celebrations --- Cite as: Požega Diocese anniversary preparations.
